“And you, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High;
for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him. . . .
because of the tender mercy of our God,
by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven
to shine on those living in darkness
and in the shadow of death,
to guide our feet into the path of peace.”

Today we draw comfort from the Biblical fact that Emmanuel has come — God is with us! We encounter him as we hear his Word. He lives in our hearts as we are renewed in his promises and trust all he says. As we make our last minute spiritual preparations for Christmas today, look to Emmanuel, your Savior and brother, and see God’s peace and presence in your life.
